Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Game Oix ("we", "us") collects when you use gameoix.com, how we use it and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, please contact us.

Summary

  • You can play every game without an account and without giving us your name or email.
  • Your game progress is stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
  • We count how often each game is played using a salted hash of your IP address, not the IP address itself.
  • If you use the contact form, we store your message so we can reply.
  • Advertising and analytics services, if enabled, are loaded only after you give consent through our cookie banner (where consent is required).

1. Information stored on your device

To save your progress, the site uses your browser's local storage. This includes your best scores and times, completed levels, ranks, achievements, daily-challenge streak, unfinished puzzles, preferred difficulty levels and your cookie choices. This information stays on your device; it is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time on the My progress page, by using "Reset this game" on a game page, or by clearing your browser's site data.

2. Play statistics

When you start interacting with a game, your browser sends us a small request containing only the game's name. We use it to count plays, so we can show genuinely popular games and improve the site. To avoid counting the same person repeatedly, we combine a one-way, salted hash of your IP address and browser user-agent with the game and date. We do not store your IP address in readable form, and we do not use this data to identify you.

3. Contact form

If you send us a message, we collect your name, email address, subject and message, together with a salted hash of your IP address for spam prevention. We use this information only to read and reply to your message. Messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and are then deleted, normally within 24 months. If our email system is configured, a copy of your message is emailed to our team.

4. Security and server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, date and page requested) for security and troubleshooting. We use rate limiting based on hashed identifiers to protect the site from abuse. Administrator accounts are protected by hashed passwords and secure sessions.

5. Cookies

Game Oix itself does not use cookies for visitors who simply play games. A session cookie is used for the contact form's security token and for administrators who sign in. Third-party advertising or analytics providers, if enabled, may set their own cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

6. Advertising

We may display advertising provided by third parties such as Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting Google's Ads Settings, and you can learn more about how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You may also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Where the law requires your consent — for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — advertising code is loaded only after you accept advertising cookies, or through a certified consent management platform.

7. Analytics

If we use an analytics service, it is loaded only after you accept analytics cookies (where consent is required). Analytics help us understand which pages are useful. We do not use analytics to identify individual visitors.

8. Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)

Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent for advertising and analytics cookies; our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the website (play counting with hashed identifiers, security logs); and our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiries when you contact us.

9. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us run the website (such as our hosting provider and, if enabled, advertising and analytics providers) or when required by law.

10. Children

Game Oix is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Games can be played without providing any personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To change your cookie choices, use the Cookie settings link in the footer. To make any other request, contact us. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

12. International visitors

Our website may be hosted on servers in a different country from yours. By using the site, you understand that your information may be processed there, with appropriate safeguards where required.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
