Getting the most out of brain games
Pick a category
Start with what you enjoy — numbers, words, cards, pictures or board strategy. Enjoyment is what keeps a habit going.
Find your level
Begin on Easy or Medium. If you win without thinking hard, step up; if you rarely finish, step down.
Play little and often
Ten to twenty focused minutes most days beats an occasional marathon. The daily challenge makes that easy.
Mix it up
Rotate between logic, memory, spatial and strategy games so you keep meeting new kinds of problems.
A home for thoughtful games
Game Oix is a free collection of original browser games built around one idea: games that make you think. Every puzzle and strategy game on the site was written specifically for Game Oix, from the Sudoku generator that checks each grid has a single solution to the computer opponents that genuinely search ahead before they move.
Over 100 games in five categories. Brain & Logic games train memory, attention and deduction, from Minesweeper and Star Battle to N-Back. Sudoku games range from a gentle 4×4 introduction to Killer, Jigsaw, Diagonal and Sandwich Sudoku, plus Kakuro and Skyscrapers. Card games — Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, Hearts and more — mix luck with real decisions. Puzzle games include word games, Liquid Sort, Parking Escape, Box Pusher and jigsaws. Strategy games pit you against a computer opponent in Reversi, Checkers, Nine Men's Morris, Hex, Battleship and more.
Difficulty that means something. Easy really is easy, and Expert really is hard. Many games also have ten levels inside each difficulty, so there is always a next step. Your best times, scores, levels, ranks and achievements are saved in your own browser — no account, no email, no download.
Honest about brain training. We think puzzles are an excellent way to practise focus, logic and planning, and you will get better at the games you play. We don't claim they will raise your IQ. Our guides explain techniques we use ourselves and are clear about what the research does and doesn't show.
Built for every screen. Every game works with a mouse, a keyboard or a touch screen, and loads in moments. Start with the Daily Brain Challenge, or browse all games.

Frequently asked questions
Are the games really free?
Yes. Every game on Game Oix is free to play in your browser. There are no downloads, no accounts and no in-game purchases. The site may show clearly labelled advertising to cover its costs.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can play everything as a guest. Your progress, best scores, levels and streaks are saved in your browser on the device you are using.
Why did my progress disappear?
Progress is stored only in your browser. Clearing browser data, using a private window or switching to another device or browser starts fresh. You can see what is saved on the My progress page.
Do the games work on phones and tablets?
Yes. Every game supports touch controls and adapts to small screens. Most also have full keyboard controls on desktop.
Will brain games make me smarter?
You will reliably get better at the games you practise, and many people find puzzles a satisfying way to exercise focus and logic. Research on broad improvements to everyday intelligence is mixed, so we prefer to promise enjoyment and practice rather than miracles.
How is difficulty decided?
Each game changes something meaningful: fewer starting clues in Sudoku, bigger grids in logic and word puzzles, and deeper search for computer opponents. Several games also have ten levels within each difficulty.
Is every puzzle solvable?
Yes. Sudoku and logic grid puzzles are checked to have exactly one solution, sliding puzzles and Lights Out boards are scrambled with legal moves, mazes are fully connected, and chess puzzles are verified by an engine. Golf Solitaire is the exception: like the traditional game, some deals cannot be cleared.
How can I report a bug or suggest a game?
Use the contact page. Tell us the game, your device and browser, and what happened. We read every message.
