About Golf Solitaire
Golf is a classic patience game played with a standard 52-card deck. The cards are dealt into seven columns of five, with the rest forming a stock pile. You may play the bottom card of any column onto the foundation if it is one rank higher or lower than the foundation card — suits don't matter. When you are stuck, turn over the next stock card.
Like the sport it is named after, the aim is to finish with as few cards left as possible — ideally zero.
How to play
- Look at the bottom card of each column. Playable cards are highlighted.
- Tap a playable card to move it to the foundation.
- When nothing can be played, tap the stock to turn over a new foundation card.
- The round ends when the columns are empty (a win) or the stock is empty and no moves remain. Your score is the number of cards left in the columns — lower is better.
- Rules by difficulty: Easy and Medium let Aces and Kings connect; Hard does not; Expert also blocks all play on a King.
Strategy and tips
- Look ahead before playing. If two columns are playable, choose the one that uncovers a card continuing the run.
- Build long runs (6-7-8-7-6) before turning the stock.
- Prefer uncovering columns with many cards so you don't get stuck with deep, buried stacks.
- Use Undo to explore — it is a single-player game, so experimenting is part of the fun.
Questions about Golf Solitaire
Is every deal winnable?
No. As in the traditional game, some deals cannot be cleared. A result of under five cards is excellent.
