Number Sequence Challenge

Every sequence in this game follows a hidden rule — add three, double, square, sum the previous two, alternate two operations. Your task is to find that rule and choose the number that comes next from four options.

After each answer, the game shows you the rule, so every question teaches you a new pattern family. Easy levels use simple steps; Expert levels include interleaved sequences, triangular numbers and Fibonacci-style sums of three.

1. Read the sequence of numbers at the top.
2. Work out the rule connecting them.
3. Choose the next number from the four options.
4. Each level has eight questions. Answer at least six correctly to clear the level and unlock the next one (ten levels per difficulty).

• Write the differences between neighbouring numbers. Constant differences mean an arithmetic sequence.
• If the differences change, look at their differences. Gaps of 2, 4, 6 mean the gap grows by 2.
• Try ratios when numbers grow quickly — ×2 and ×3 are common.
• Check odd and even positions separately if the pattern seems to jump around.
• Verify your rule against every term, not just the last two.
