Star Battle

The board is divided into coloured regions — as many as there are rows. Place exactly one star in each row, each column and each region. Stars may never touch each other, not even at the corners. Use dots to mark cells you know are empty.

Region layouts are generated around a hidden solution and then refined until the solution is the only one possible.

1. Tap a cell once for a star, again for a dot (no star), and once more to clear it.
2. Each row, column and region needs exactly one star.
3. Stars may not be next to each other in any direction.

• Small regions first. A region of two or three cells pins its star down quickly.
• Mark the neighbours. Every star rules out the eight cells around it — dot them.
• Regions confined to one row use up that row's star, so the rest of the row is empty.
